Beavers

Knapdale and Yukon Beaver Colony’s

The fun and adventure is only just starting when your child joins Beavers! They are one of the youngest groups of the scouting family aged from 5 ¾ years to 8 years of age. They are easy to spot in their bright turquoise jumpers, usually found running around causing mischief earning their reputation of blue ninja’s!

By joining beavers, your child will grow in confidence, learn new skills and discover talents they didn’t know they had! They will have the opportunity to be involved in lots of different activities from hikes, exploring, climbing, learning about our community and helping others to science days, bowling, farm visits all whilst making lots of new friends along the way.

By taking part in these activities, your child will start to earn badges to be worn on their uniform or placed on a camp blanket which can be used to record their journey through scouting.

By building their confidence, we build up to taking the group away for an overnight (or two!) stay, this could be a sleepover at the group hq or further afield to a scout campsite where they would sleep in bunkhouses or tents. This enables the children to explore and discover even more skills and take part in exciting opportunities like climbing, archery, rope courses, den building and of course camp would not be camp without a camp fire with songs and marshmallows.

Here is what some of our current children have to say about beavers!

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
